Dr. Galimbertti is the manager of health information at the Rural and Community Health Institute (RCHI). She joined RCHI in 2005 and has been working with rural hospital data analysis, first on the Health Information Technology Implementation Grant for rural hospitals and currently on health care data integration (HDI). She has more than 20 years of expertise working with data reporting and analysis in the public health area. Her areas of interest are in data quality assurance and improvement and the implementation and use of health information technology to improve the quality of and access to health care services.
Originally from Brazil, she holds a M.D. degree from the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine, medical residency in dermatology and specialization in public health. For several years, she was a regional director of epidemiological surveillance and a public health physician of the Division of Zoonosis and Vector-Borne Diseases at the Center of Epidemiological Surveillance-Sao Paulo State Department of Health.
In the United States, she earned her M.S. degree in Geographic Information Science from The University of Texas at Dallas. In her master,s degree thesis, she studied the “Spatial Pattern Analysis of Childhood Cancer in Texas,” a project funded by the National Cancer Institute. Recently, she worked as GIS statistical analyst at the Department of Epidemiology, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
