Van is a 1983 graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. In 1997, she graduated from Alvin Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing. During her career, she has worked as a labor and delivery nurse, operating room circulator and quality nurse. As quality nurse, she has experience in infection control, performance improvement, risk management, joint commission accreditation, quality, and physician and nurse peer review. Van is licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Texas and is a certified professional in health care quality (CPHQ).
She will be working for the Rural and Community Health Institute in the Physician Peer Review and Nursing Peer Review programs.
