Winkler is a 1997 nursing graduate from Trinity Valley Community College in Kaufman, Texas. After graduation, Winkler began her nursing career as a bedside nurse in the acute care setting, including post-operative, medical and emergency care.
In the last five years, Winkler has modified her focus to include quality improvement. Prior to her employment with the Rural and Community Health Institute, she was a case manager at a 119-bed facility and a data abstractor for core measures.
Winkler is the program manager for Physicians Peer Review and Utilization Services. She is a member of the Texas Nurses Association.
